South Charlotte Public Schools once again outscored their Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) counterparts and even the North Carolina public schools average for the 2010 -2011 school year!  Over 95% of public schools in South Charlotte made high or expected academic growth, as measured by North Carolina's mandated ABC's of Public Education program.

Families who live in South Charlotte already know that these test results convey:  South Charlotte public schools are the best!  All South Charlotte high schools were named either Honor Schools of Excellence or Schools of Distinction, and Providence High School and Ardrey Kell High School both recorded the highest test scores of all CMS schools - a whopping 95% of students at Providence and Ardrey Kell scored above grade level, or at grade level.  The average score for all the public high schools in South Charlotte (Providence, Ardrey Kell, South Mecklenburg, Myers Park, Butler, and East Mecklenburg) was 90%, an increase from the 2009-2010 school year. 

South Charlotte middle schools had strong performance, with 6 of 9 middle schools showing increases in test scores.  South Charlotte middle schools scoring over 90% pass rates include Community House, Jay M. Robinson, South Charlotte  and Randolph, with Crestdale close behind at 89.7%.

South Charlotte elementary schools scored big as well, with 19 of 28 schools posting increases.  Providence Spring Best Charlotte Public Schools - South Charlotte Schools Top CMS and State Test ScoresElementary, Elon Park and Polo Ridge all scored over 95% pass rates.

Congratulations to South Charlotte Public Schools for raising the bar in public education and attaining the "Honor Schools of Excellence" title.  Honor schools of excellence are those schools which have 90 - 100% of students pass the end-of-grade or end-of-course tests, and Adequate Yearly Progress is made according to the Federal No Child Left Behind Act.  Click here for more information on Charlotte public schools test results, as published in the Charlotte Observer.
