Biggest Dog I've Ever Seen!

Biggest dog I've ever seen!

I'm tried to be wordless here, but this photo just defies "wordlessness!"  I just have to rave about this dog named "Duke," who belongs to a wonderful client of mine, Jeff from Minneapolis!

Jeff closed on his new home in Charlotte in May, and my husband and I recently met Jeff and Diane - and Duke - at Stonecrest to enjoy some local music.  We were bombarded by passersby who shared my amazement at this huge canine creature.  Virtually every person who passed our table asked the same questions:

  • How much does he weigh?   210 pounds
  • What kind of dog is he?   English Mastiff
  • How much does he eat?  8 cups a day
  • What's his name?  Duke (my client graduated from Duke University, and the name fits!)
It's not every day you meet a horse  dog this big!  Enjoy looking at Duke - he's a real sweetheart, as gentle as can be!

Biggest dog I've ever seen

Melissa, that's a big pooch. Cleaning up after that little pup doesn't require a scooper, more like a shovel.

I thought my dog was big, 210 pounds is enormous! He looks like a sweetheart, though.

Wow!  I'll bet that Duke's humans don't have to worry about burglars!  Though he looks much to happy to be a threat to anyone.

Hi Melissa, what a big beautiful dog.  I have three Boxers and the biggest one weighs 105 pounds and I thought he was big.  Duke is huge.  English Mastiff's are supposed to be so gentle.  Great picture!

Can you all even BELIEVE this dog?

Wallace - my lab is about 90# and I thought SHE was a pig!

Ed - you're not kidding!  I can't imagine what the yard must look like!

Rose - I've never seen a dog this big either - had to share!

Luz - he is the biggest sweetheart of a dog I've ever seen - gentle with all the gawkers who crowded around him the whole evening - he must be used to being in the limelight!

Hannah - I did notice QUITE A BIT of slobber!  Yuck!

Pam, thanks for commenting on this big old softie of a dog!

Pat - Duke's not going to hurt anyone, but he might scare them to death!

Judith - I don't think I've ever seen a more gentle dog.  We were actually kicked out of the patio of a supposedly "dog friendly" restaurant - I'm sure because his size is so intimidating.  But it truly would not have been a problem at all.

Oh my goodness, Melissa.  Just had my dog at the vet today and he weighed in at 16.4 pounds.  Duke is over 10X his size!

Very impressive pooch! And how cute.. although anything that size probably does not qualify for cute, LOL.

Melissa  Duke can afford to be gentle.  Who in their right mind would challenge him?

We go to a nice dog park in Alameda...and there are a couple of mastiffs who are part of the pack. They are such playful doofuses...but very gentle and have such sweet dispositions. It's a good thing, too, because they are ENORMOUS! They make my German Shepherd look like a midget.
