Providence High School in Charlotte NC once again leads Charlotte Region Schools on SAT scores
Although the national average SAT score on combined math and reading decreased 1 point from last year to 1016, Providence High School students led all Charlotte Region schools with an average 2010 test score of 1157. 16 of the 23 high schools in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) system posted increases in SAT scores o
ver 2009, and 66.3% of all high school students in CMS took the test in 2010, achieving a CMS goal of higher SAT participation. The average combined score for CMS students climbed to 1016, an increase of 9 points from 2009. The average score across all NC schools was 1008, up two points from 2009.
Providence High School students consistently out-perform their peers on SAT scores in CMS, the State, and nationally. Due to a rigorous academic program offering a wide array of honors and AP courses, Providence High School is a perennial academic powerhouse in the Charlotte region. An amazing 98% of Providence High School students enroll in AP classes, and over 81% of those students scored high enough on their AP exams to receive college credit.
